How NAnA was born

NAnA ETS was born following the dramatic death of Francesca Martini, who was struck down at the age of 14 by Acute Myeloid Leukemia with a particularly rapid course of only four days.

The family decided to preserve Francesca ‘s cells and make them available to scientific research in the hope of being able to understand the genetic causes of the rare disease that affected her and avoid such a painful experience for other families.

Why is NAnA ETS called Nana?

Nana was Simone ‘s tender nickname for his 6-year-old younger sister Francesca .

A little game between brother and sister that took on an even deeper meaning, and today helps remind everyone of Francesca with her energy, sensitivity and originality. A driving force for all who loved her and for those who know her by coming into contact with NAnA today.

What is AML?

Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) is a disease characterized by abnormal growth of bone marrow stem cells that give rise to several types of blood cells including white blood cells, red blood cells, and platelets. These cells, called myeloid precursors, can undergo genetic abnormalities or mutations that cause abnormal multiplication.

The study of Francesca‘s tumor-and other similar cases-is not only a manifestation of understandable parental desire for answers to one’s suffering whys, but represents a real challenge of modern medicine, a difficult challenge that needs non-specialist support, your support.
